Itinerary
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive through Tanzaniaโs remote countryside to Londorossi Gate (2,900m), where youโll meet your professional mountain guide and team of porters for a short trek briefing.
Start your hike through lush lowland rainforest, teeming with wildlifeโkeep an eye out for Colobus monkeys, velvet monkeys, colorful bird species, and even buffalo or elephants if youโre lucky.
A 3โ4 hour trek (6 km) brings you to your first overnight stop: Mti Mkubwa Camp, nestled in the heart of the forest.

Today, youโll leave the rainforest behind and ascend into the stunning moorland ecosystem, dotted with giant heather, alpine flowers, and volcanic rocks.
Pass Shira Ridge and continue across the vast Shira Plateau, whereโon a clear dayโyouโll enjoy panoramic views of the Western Breach and surrounding highlands.
Trekking time is 6โ8 hours as you reach Shira Camp 2, perfect for acclimatization and unwinding under the stars.

The terrain becomes more dramatic as you climb towards Lava Tower (4,600m), traversing a stunning high-altitude desert landscape framed by rugged volcanic rock.
After a lunch stop at Lava Tower, descend into the lush Barranco Valley, known as the โGarden of the Seneciosโโhome to towering senecio trees and surreal-looking lobelias.
This 10 km trek (7โ8 hours) includes significant altitude change to aid acclimatization.

Todayโs highlight is the thrilling ascent of the famous Barranco Wallโa fun scramble with no technical climbing, but a truly rewarding challenge.
Reach the top to take in breathtaking views, then descend into the Karanga Valley. After a hot lunch, spend the afternoon relaxing and letting your body adjust to the altitude.

The trek to Barafu Base Camp takes about 4โ5 hours over alpine terrain. The air is thin, but the anticipation is high.
Arrive in time for a hot lunch and spend the day resting and preparing for your midnight summit attempt. After an early dinner, itโs early to bedโtomorrow, you conquer Africaโs highest peak.

The most exhilarating day of your journey begins at midnight, trekking in the starlight up steep switchbacks toward the summit.
Arrive at Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, just in time to witness a magical sunrise over the continentโan emotional, unforgettable experience.
After photos and celebration, descend to Barafu for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for a well-earned sleep.

Enjoy your final breakfast on the mountain and descend through the rich rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,890m)โa 3โ4 hour hike.
