Ngorongoro Crater

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most incredible natural wonders, the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken and unfilled volcanic caldera on Earth. Spanning 16–19 km in diameter and reaching depths of up to 610 meters, the crater is home to over 26,000 animals. The montane forest along the crater walls is a haven for leopards, while the crater floor teems with life—zebras, wildebeest, eland, gazelles, lions, and the endangered black rhino.

Notable points inside the crater include:

Lake Manyara National Park

Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara is a shallow alkaline lake famous for its seasonal pink-hued flocks of flamingos and remarkable wildlife diversity. The park is known for its tree-climbing lions, large baboon troops, and rich birdlife, including pelicans, storks, spoonbills, and herons. Wildlife you may encounter includes elephants, buffalo, zebras, hippos, leopards, gazelles, impalas, waterbucks, and more.
