An unforgettable journey to the Roof of Africa, blending remote wilderness, awe-inspiring landscapes, and the achievement of a lifetime.

Itinerary

Day 1: Into the Wild – Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,895m)

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive through Tanzania’s remote countryside to Londorossi Gate (2,900m), where you’ll meet your professional mountain guide and team of porters for a short trek briefing.

Start your hike through lush lowland rainforest, teeming with wildlife—keep an eye out for Colobus monkeys, velvet monkeys, colorful bird species, and even buffalo or elephants if you’re lucky.

A 3–4 hour trek (6 km) brings you to your first overnight stop: Mti Mkubwa Camp, nestled in the heart of the forest.

Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner

Overnight: Mti Mkubwa Camp

Day 2: Across the Shira Plateau – Shira Camp 2 (3,895m)

Today, you’ll leave the rainforest behind and ascend into the stunning moorland ecosystem, dotted with giant heather, alpine flowers, and volcanic rocks.

Pass Shira Ridge and continue across the vast Shira Plateau, where—on a clear day—you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Western Breach and surrounding highlands.

Trekking time is 6–8 hours as you reach Shira Camp 2, perfect for acclimatization and unwinding under the stars.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Overnight: Shira Camp 2

Day 3: High Altitudes and Lava Towers – Barranco Camp (3,900m)

The terrain becomes more dramatic as you climb towards Lava Tower (4,600m), traversing a stunning high-altitude desert landscape framed by rugged volcanic rock.

After a lunch stop at Lava Tower, descend into the lush Barranco Valley, known as the “Garden of the Senecios”—home to towering senecio trees and surreal-looking lobelias.

This 10 km trek (7–8 hours) includes significant altitude change to aid acclimatization.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Overnight: Barranco Camp

Today’s highlight is the thrilling ascent of the famous Barranco Wall—a fun scramble with no technical climbing, but a truly rewarding challenge.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Overnight: Karanga Camp

Day 5: Summit Prep – Barafu Camp (4,745m).

The trek to Barafu Base Camp takes about 4–5 hours over alpine terrain. The air is thin, but the anticipation is high.

Arrive in time for a hot lunch and spend the day resting and preparing for your midnight summit attempt. After an early dinner, it’s early to bed—tomorrow, you conquer Africa’s highest peak.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Overnight: Barafu Camp

Day 6: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

The most exhilarating day of your journey begins at midnight, trekking in the starlight up steep switchbacks toward the summit.

Arrive at Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, just in time to witness a magical sunrise over the continent—an emotional, unforgettable experience.

After photos and celebration, descend to Barafu for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for a well-earned sleep.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
